Your order, step by step

A considered process. A personal result.

From choosing your artwork to approving the final details, here is what you can expect from a made-to-order painting.

  1. Choose your painting

Select the artwork, size and framing option. For a custom piece, share your reference and ideas with us.

  2. We paint it by hand

We prepare the canvas and develop the painting in layers, from the first sketch to the finishing details.

  3. Review and refine

Receive photos of your completed painting. Request adjustments until you are happy to give your final approval.

  4. Prepare and deliver

After approval, we allow for drying, complete any selected framing, and pack your painting for its journey.

From the first line to the final detail

Watch a painting take shape.

The same composition develops through five stages below. Each brushstroke adds something new: structure, colour, depth, then the details that bring it together.

Initial outline sketch of a cathedral, trees and cattle on canvas

Sketch the composition

Map the main shapes, proportions and placement.

First colours added to the sky and cathedral over the initial sketch

Lay in the first colours

Establish the sky, light and broad areas of colour.

Trees and architectural forms taking shape in the oil painting

Build shape and depth

Develop trees, architecture and the foreground.

Landscape painting with developed foliage, colour and foreground

Refine colour and texture

Balance the tones and bring the scene into focus.

Finished cathedral oil painting with detailed leaves, stonework and cattle

Finish the details

Refine highlights, shadows and small features, then review the painting as a whole.

The materials behind the painting

Oil paint. Cotton canvas. A human touch.

We work with oil paints on prepared cotton canvas. Different brushes help shape broad passages and finer details, with time between layers as the painting develops.

Your approval comes first

See it. Refine it. Make it yours.

We send photos of your completed painting before shipping, so you can take a close look and tell us what you think.

Unlimited revisions before final approval.

Ask us to adjust the painting until you are satisfied with the finished result.

Planning for a particular date?

Tell us before ordering. Revisions and drying can add time. While revisions or your final approval are still pending, we cannot commit to a fixed dispatch or arrival date.

Good work takes a little time

From the final brushstroke to your doorstep.

Painting, approval, preparation and transit are separate stages. The timing below helps you plan for each part of the journey.

Painting

10–14 days

Typical painting time. Larger, highly detailed or custom pieces may take 2–3 weeks or longer.

Approval & preparation

Time to get it right

Allow additional time for your review, any revisions, drying, selected framing and protective packaging.

Standard transit

5–10 business days

Estimated travel time after dispatch for most standard shipments. Destination and package size affect the service used.

Larger framed paintings

Over 38 inches? Plan for ocean freight.

When any framed dimension exceeds 38 inches, the painting generally travels by ocean freight. Allow approximately 28–35 days after dispatch, in addition to production and preparation.

After arrival in the destination country, final delivery is by truck. The carrier will call ahead to arrange the delivery time.

Shipping and applicable taxes included

Standard shipping and applicable duties and taxes are included in the order price.

All timeframes are estimates. Approval, revisions, customs and carrier schedules can affect the delivery date.

Ask us a question
Are your paintings made by hand?

Yes. Our oil paintings are painted by hand with oil paints on canvas. They are not canvas prints.

Will I see my painting before it ships?

Yes. For your made-to-order painting, we send photos for you to review. You can request changes before giving your final approval for shipment.

What if I would like something changed?

Tell us which details you would like adjusted. We offer unlimited revisions before final approval and work with you until you are satisfied. Revisions may add time to the process.

Can you paint a custom size or work from my reference?

Yes. Share your preferred size, reference image and any colour or composition requests. We will discuss the details, price and expected timing before you place a custom order.

How long will my painting take?

Typical painting time is around 10–14 days. Your review, revisions, drying, framing and shipping are additional stages. Complex pieces and larger framed orders can take longer. See the timing information above and our shipping policy for details.

Can you guarantee a particular dispatch or delivery date?

Please contact us before ordering if you have a deadline. While your painting still needs revisions or final approval, we cannot commit to a fixed dispatch or arrival date. Any special timing arrangement must be confirmed with us in advance.
